Trump says he spoke to Virgin Islands' 'president' -- which is him

The Virgin Islands is a US island territory that was ravaged by Hurricane Maria after first being hit by Hurricane Irma.

"Can't wait for the summit between Trump's President of the Virgin Islands & Rick Perry's President of Puerto Rico", he wrote. "These are people that are incredible people".

While the USA region's lawmaking body has a President, the president was likely alluding to Virgin Islands Gov. Kenneth Mapp, with whom Trump met not long ago. "We're going to be there as Americans", Trump said.

The Virgin Islands have a governor named Kenneth Mapp, whom we assume is the person who Trump met with two weeks ago and assumed was the "President" of the USA territory.

49ers rumored to be shopping linebacker NaVorro Bowman
He missed the entire 2014 National Football League season after suffering a brutal leg injury in the 2013 NFC Championship game. Overall, Bowman has 709 total tackles, 12 1/2 sacks, 7 forced fumbles and 4 interceptions in his 8 seasons with the 49ers.

Even the official White House transcript of the speech points out the error, noting that Trump was likely speaking about his meeting with Kenneth Mapp on October 3, the governor of the islands.

Trump on Friday addressed the US government's response to Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria.

After saying that Puerto Rico was "a country that already had its challenges before this storm", Perry was interrupted by Rep Kathy Castor who told him "It's America". CNN reporter Hunter Schwarz chimed in, "He meets the president of the Virgin Islands daily, in fact". He also did not seem to know where Puerto Rico is, describing it to reporters as "an island sitting in the middle of an ocean - and it's a big ocean, a really, really big ocean".

Nevertheless, this isn't the first time someone in the Trump administration has revealed a shaky grasp of US geography.
