Texas Tech returns to action against West Virginia on the road on Saturday. That may have been one of the few bright spots in the 31-24 loss, which knocked the Mountaineers out of The Associated Press Top 25 poll. West Virginia coach Dana Holgorsen is 3-1 against Texas Tech's Kliff Kingsbury. Kingsbury played under Holgorsen who was on Texas Tech's staff when Kingsbury was the quarterback in the early 2000s. Holgorsen was Texas Tech's wide receivers coach from 2000-04 and added offensive coordinator duties from 2005-07. He was the only Big 12 defensive player named to the list. The Red Raiders' advantage is slimmer than expected. It won't be any easier for WVU against Tech which ranks 12th nationally with only five turnovers lost.
Their Florida transfer quarterback: West Virginia might have the most underrated quarterback in the Big 12.
Texas Tech also ranks fifth nationally with a turnover margin of 1.80 per game. West Virginia is 70th in scoring defense and Texas Tech is 80th.
The Red Raiders (4-1, 1-1 Big 12) had their best game on the ground in five years in a 65-19 win last week at Kansas, and they'll be eager to try it again Saturday against a West Virginia defense that has struggled to stop the run.
Hyatt Hotels Says Card Data Breach Affected 41 Properties
It was the latest significant hack to target the hotel chain since its last data breach in December 2015 . This is the second such breach suffered by Hyatt Corp.in as many years.
Last year, Texas Tech lost 48-17 in Lubbock.
Underwhelming at home against Big 12: West Virginia has the talent to give teams headaches, but they aren't as good as home as one might think. Even with a talented team, this is a winnable game for Texas Tech. The Red Raiders will put up some big-time numbers against a decent West Virginia secondary, but they just won't have enough juice late in the game as Shimonek will throw a crucial game-clinching pick with two minutes left. And while this Tech team has done a good job limiting turnovers, it leads the Big 12 with three turnovers in the red zone.
Justin Stockton #4 of the Texas Tech Red Raiders runs for a 13-yard touchdown against the Kansas Jayhawks in the first quarter at Memorial Stadium on October 7, 2017 in Lawrence, Kansas.
West Virginia has an elite passer of its own, though.
But ultimately, the Mountaineers' balanced offensive attack is going to be too much for the Red Raiders defense, which hasn't seen an offense close to WVU's. The Mountaineers actually average more total yards - their third in the FBS with 577, behind only Oklahoma and Oklahoma State - and rushing yards (213.2).
