American manufacturer Diono has issued a voluntary product recall on more than 500,000 convertible and booster vehicle seats. The seats affected - the Radian R100, Radian R120, Radian RXT, Olympia, Pacifica, and Rainier convertible and booster auto seats - may not completely protect a child in a crash when the seat is forward-facing and secured using a lap belt without the top tether. Owners will be offered a new chest clip, as well as a new energy-absorbing seat pad intended for children under 65 pounds using seats installed with only the lap belt. Radian child restraints have a long history of excellent performance in the field with no reported injuries or deaths associated with these use modes.
Beginning in June of this year, Diono quality assurance tests began returning worrisome results. The recall is expected to start November 22.
Vijay starrer Mersal to have a grand release
It was speculated that the film may face trouble because of the battle between the Tamil Film Producers' Council and government. Mersal also marks the second collaboration of Thalapathy Vijay and director Atlee after their 2016 blockbuster Theri .
Future seats will incorporate the changes, and the company will begin listing 65 pounds as the maximum harnessed weight for the seats.
Diono says in the remedy section of the documents that it will send owners or dealers a fix kit with an energy absorbing pad and chest clip for free. Owners can call the manufacturer at 855-463-4666.
