The results for crucial Nanded Waghala City Municipal Corporation (NWCMC) election will be announced on Thursday.

Speaking to media persons later, Abdullah Sohail congratulated the Congress leader of Nanded, especially former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan for winning 71 out of 81 seats.

The opposition led by BJP bagged six seats while its ruling ally in the Centre and the state, Shiv Sena, got just a single seat.

An NDA ally, Maharashtra Swabhiman Party President Narayan Rane, minced no words in criticizing the BJP-Sena for the rout in Nanded.

Chavan said the Congress victory was the beginning of the end of the BJP in Maharashtra.

Attributing the outcome to the people of Nanded, Chavan said they had "reposed full faith" in the developmental agenda of the Congress and rejected the "divisive politics" plus "below-the-belt" campaigning indulged in by BJP leaders. Its 10 ministers, MLAs and even chief minister Devendra Fadnavis aggressively campaigned for the polls. This is BJP's first major loss in Maharashtra since it emerged as the single largest party in the October 2014 assembly elections.

Currently, the NW Municipal Corporation is run by the Congress.

Trelleborg has been placed on lockdown by armed cops with reports that at least four people suffered gunshot wounds. "There are several people who have experienced confirmed gunshot wounds", a statement issued by Police Skåne read.

No immediate reaction came from Fadnavis who is on a visit to Sweden. The party had won 11 seats last election in 2012. In 2012 the BJP had 2 seats.

Congress is in power in Nanded since its foundation.

In 2012, the Congress bagged 41 seats, Shiv Sena 14, AIMIM and NCP 10 each, BJP two while independents and others notched three seats.

A BJP spokesperson, requesting anonimity, admitted that the strategy to "import leaders from other parties had backfired big time in Nanded".

Nanded is Chavan's home turf.

According to the Newspaper, It seems that the people have realized that MIM is "Vote Split party" was also hand in glove with communal forces and its objective in contesting at Nanded was just to split the secular votes and give victory advantage to communal forces led by BJP and Shivsena.Shabbir said days were not far when the intelligent but poor people of Old city of Hyderabad also realise their fault in supporting the MIM and make Hyderabad as the Congress bastion once again. The party could not only attract AIMIM's Muslim voters but also gained Shiv Sena's voters. "One of the reasons why we won is that the EVMs were not tampered with". The BJP already rules the Pune and Nagpur municipal corporations.
