ESPN reported Wednesday that Auburn University has retained a law firm to look into whether or not a part-time staffer took an exam for a football player a year ago.
"It's simply not true", the athletic department media statement reads. The person making the accusation is a part-time employee placed on administrative leave on August 31 because of a dispute with a coworker.
The school reportedly hired a law firm to investigate the alleged incident which occurred with a player from the 2015 team.
It's the same month Auburn athletics hired the same law firm as an objective third party to oversee the school's internal Title IX investigation into the softball program. It was originally reported that the player was on the 2016 team.
One of them is the Federal investigation into bribery that has swept up multiple college basketball coaches including now assistant and Tigers alum Chuck Person. The source said the player told the tutor he had not taken the exam.

The athletic department called the allegation false, but it is one in a series of probes now going on at Auburn.
The report states that Auburn's statement to ESPN claims the tutor signed 38 bi-monthly timesheets throughout her employment "stating that she has no knowledge or has not witnessed or assisted a student-athlete in participating in academic dishonesty".
President Steven Leath said in a statement that an independent investigation hasn't found any evidence supporting the allegations, but that he is "actively engaged as the investigation continues".
In March 2017, the NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions reversed the postseason ban after Lightfoot attorneys William Brooks and Clint Speegle represented Hawaii in the NCAA proceedings.
It will only turn the heat up on athletic director Jay Jacobs, for one.
