"Dawson's Creek" star James Van Der Beek revealed he was sexually harassed as a young man in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

On Oct. 12, Van Der Beek published a series of tweets disclosing how he himself had been a victim of sexual harassment as a young man, according to Page Six. "There's a power dynamic that's impossible to overcome".

Earlier in the evening, he commented on Weinstein specifically, calling his behaviour "criminal" and "unacceptable", and adding that he applauds everybody speaking out.

Van Der Beek, 40, opened up about his own experience, writing on Twitter that he understands "the unwarranted shame" that some of the women involved in the Harvey Weinstein scandal have suffered for not coming forward sooner. A-list stars such as Gwyneth Paltrow, Angelina Jolie and Cara Delevingne came forward and said Weinstein made inappropriate advances toward them. "Because this kind of thing happened to ME".
