Mini is drawing inspiration from its past with a new 1499 GT special edition of the Mini One. This, the MINI 1499 GT, hangs on the hook that says "Mini 1275 GT", although its ethos is somewhat different.
Only 1499 models are being produced from November 2017 to February 2018, exclusively to the United Kingdom market. The new engine set-up provides identical performance figures to the now redundant 1.2-litre unit.
The original 1275 GT is "one of the best known sporty classic Minis of all time", according to Mini, and was renowned at the time for having "an entertaining drive, distinctive styling and low running costs", all of which have been mimicked in this modern revival.
Pakistan face Bangladesh in their Asia hockey Cup opener today
Pakistan, at that time, were the undisputed kings of hockey holding all the titles: Olympic, World Cup, Asian Games and Asia Cup. India are set to be led out onto the pitch by Manpreet Singh, while Mohammad Irfan Sr is set to be his counterpart on the pitch.
"Despite its modest power, the 1499 GT comes with the same sports suspension as the Cooper S, looks courtesy of a JCW sports pack, a set of 17" alloys and a gold graphics pack including decals on the side echoing the 1275 GT's. Interior features include John Cooper Works Sports seats in Dinamica and leather and JCW badges, a JCW steering wheel in perforated leather with Chilli Red stitching and multi-function controls.
Mini is building the UK-only special edition between November and February, and expects the £16,990 auto to sell out quickly. Being powered by the 998cc Twin Power Turbo three-cylinder engine, it has maximum power output of 102bhp while it does a 0-100kmph sprint in merely 10.1 seconds. Sales have already started, but deliveries aren't expected until later in November.
