Nissan made a DualShock-controlled auto to promote 'GT Sport'

Nissan has created a GT-R that can be controlled using a Sony PlayStation DualShock 4 controller to mark the launch of the next Gran Turismo video game in what is the 10th year of the R35.

From the cockpit of a helicopter (not his mom's basement couch), Mardenborough drove this GT-R/C reached a top speed of 131 mph/211 kph, averaging 76 mph/122 kph, and recording a lap time of (1:17:47). Specifically, it's the GT-R/C, since it's a radio-controlled GT-R, piloted with a standard DualShock 4 controller that's plugged into a computer that remotely controls a series of robots installed in the car's interior which manipulate the wheel, accelerator, brakes, and transmission. The first of which can jam on the brakes, and the second can shut off the engine.

"We had to ensure the robotics would operate effectively during fast acceleration and deceleration as well as high cornering g-forces, deliver realistic and reassuring control of the vehicle at all speeds, and maintain a robust connection between the auto and the DualShock 4 over variable distances and with minimal latency in robot response times".

Nissan also runs the GT Academy race series that brings console racing drivers into the real world - Aussie racer Matt Simmons, who is now running in the 2017 Blancpain GT Endurance series, got his start by winning the worldwide 2015 GT Academy.

Component shortages to hurt PC market until end of 2018 - Gartner
Lenovo Group ( 0992HK ) saw its second-place share rise slightly as well, to 21.4% from 21%, despite a drop of 1.5% in shipments. Gartner and IDC analysts have pointed to a variety of factors of this past quarter's decline, including component shortages.

Mardenborough's best lap of the 2.6 Silverstone loop circuit was 1m17.47, averaging 122km/h and hitting a top speed of 211km/h. The controller itself was completely unmodified connected to a microcomputer with a wireless operation control range of one kilometre.

"This was once-in-a-lifetime, truly epic stuff", said Mardenborough.

"The GT-R /C has brought my two worlds together - the virtual of gaming and the reality of motorsport - in a way I never thought possible", states Mardenborough.

The cool auto was made to celebrate twenty years of Nissan's involvement with the Gran Turismo franchise as well as the upcoming release of Gran Turismo Sport, which gets released in the United States on October 17. Steering, acceleration and braking all allowing for controlled application so I could really get a feel through the corners and hold it steady down the fast straights.

After this demonstration run, Nissan will tour the GT-R/C around schools in the United Kingdom to promote STEM education.
