Pranay Misra (28), hailing from Bhubaneshwar, was on his way to meet his girlfriend on his scooter when two motorcycle borne youths accosted and stabbed him multiple times near Chocolate factory on Tavarekere Main Road on Monday. Madiwala police said they have collected CCTV footage from cameras in and around the junction.Police said Pranay came to Bengaluru after he completed BTech in Computer Science from Trident Academy of Technology, Bhubaneswar. "He was taken to St John's hospital where he is under treatment", police said.

While at first it was suspected that the murder could have been due to personal rivalry, it has now been learnt that the incident occurred due to a case of road rage. Police say that it may not be a robbery attempt as his wallet, mobile phone or other valuables were not missing from the crime scene. Karthik and his associate sped away on their bike.

The 24-year-old was arrested on Tuesday evening after the police shot at him during a chase. They said Karthik is a history-sheeter at Madiwala police station. The areas where he operates are Koramangala, Parappana Agrahara and surrounding areas.
