Maryam says people rejected SC's verdict, conspiracies against Nawaz

Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi called on former premier Nawaz Sharif on Sunday.

The highly-contested election has been viewed as a litmus test to see how the SC verdict affected those who have elected Nawaz to office thrice in since 1990.

"You took the brunt of the attack against Nawaz Sharif", she said, while hailing people of the constituency.

Sharif, who has held office as prime minister on three occasions but never completed a full term, has already been summoned by an anti-corruption court in a corruption case on September 19.

And Maryam Nawaz said the people of Lahore will elect her mother and "reject the court's decision" against Sharif.

Among the candidates are Jama'at-i-Islami's (JI) Ziaur Rehman Ansari and the newly formed Milli Muslim League's independent candidate, Sheikh Mohammad Yaqoob. But their posters are across the city, many featuring the picture of Hafiz Saeed.
