Kim Jong Un says he's seeking military 'equilibrium' with US

President Donald Trump says he and South Korean President Moon Jae-in (jah-yihn) have discussed North Korea in their latest call. "This includes the regime of North Korea, which has once again shown its utter contempt for its neighbors and for the entire world community".

Just two days ago, North Korea fired a ballistic missile over the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido, the latest in a series of missile tests defying the worldwide community. Although North Korea's supply of refined petroleum products would be significantly reduced, Seoul and Washington had hoped for a complete fuel embargo.

The UNSC referred to the latest launch as a "manifest violation" of Security Council resolutions that comes less than two weeks after the DPRK conducted a test of a nuclear device on 3 September and only three days after the Security Council unanimously adopted fresh sanctions against the country.

"For those who have said and have been commenting about the lack of a military option, there is a military option", he insisted.

Also today, holding urgent consultations over the ballistic missile launch, the Security Council expressed its grave concern that the DPRK is, by conducting such a launch over Japan as well as its recent actions and public statements, deliberately undermining regional peace and stability and causing grave security concerns around the world.

North Korea said on Saturday it aims to reach an "equilibrium" of military force with the United States, which earlier signaled its patience for diplomacy is wearing thin after Pyongyang fired a missile over Japan for the second time in under a month.
