OSU's Brendan Vaughn arrested on drug charges


The Forney, Texas, native didn't appear in the Cowboys' first two wins of the season as he's taking a redshirt in his first year with the program. Coach Mike Gundy is not scheduled to speak to the media until after the team's game at Pittsburgh, which begins at 11 a.m. Saturday. Scout listed Vaughn as the No. 38 prospect in the country at outside linebacker and No. 6 in the state of Texas.

When they got to his door, they could smell the marijuana and could hear a vacuum sealer running inside the room. Police said they knocked on the door and rang the doorbell but there was no response.

When they searched the apartment, authorities discovered a small pile of a "green leafy substance" on a desk and a vacuum-sealed bag containing a large amount of marijuana.

The report reads that officers recovered more than $2,100 in cash and 708 grams, about 1 1/2 pounds, of marijuana during the search.

In a statement, Sununu said he's asked for regular updates on how the investigation is proceeding. The boy's mother later posted pictures showing rope burn on the boy's neck on Facebook .

The possession with intent to distribute charge is a felony, and the possession of drug paraphernalia is a misdemeanor.

A Payne County Sheriff's Department document says Oklahoma State police arrested Vaughn on Saturday at Davis Hall, and he was released from jail Sunday after posting bond.

Vaughn appeared in court Tuesday afternoon and pleaded not guilty.
