Kairi Sane wins WWE Mae Young Classic

Sane was announced as getting the title shot by Triple H in an interview with ESPN after winning the Mae Young Classic.

The Japanese star beat former UFC competitor Shayna Baszler in the final of the 32-woman tournament in Las Vegas to take home the trophy.

Though they approach competition with different outlooks, Sane and Baszler now find themselves in the same spot, as finalists in WWE's groundbreaking women's tournament.

Military action would mark a 'sad day for North Korea'
The decision came three days after the communist North staged its latest and possibly most powerful nuclear test so far on Sunday. Meanwhile, the USA is still unwavering in its threat to cut off trade with any nation doing business with North Korea.

Sane, all 5-foot-1 of her frame, absorbed damage from Baszler throughout the match, twice failing to follow through with the top rope flying elbow before fighting Baszler off and hitting several signature moves, including a vicious double stomp as Baszler hung suspended from the turnbuckle. "I can tell you what's next for her". Sportskeeda is reporting that the victor was changed at the last minute by Vince McMahon because Sane has already been signed to a WWE deal, but Baszler has not.

Cathy Kelly then interviewed the victor of the Mae Young Classic, Kairi Sane. Can Kairi Sane, who is newly signed to NXT, kick-start her WWE career in the biggest way imaginable, with a milestone victory on the Mae Young Classic Finale? She wants to be the next NXT Women's Champion and will do her best to make it happen.

As for Shayna Baszler, she is still under contract with Stardom, but much like Sane, she will most likely jump ship to WWE and sign a full-time contract.
