The company said its updated commitment would include up to $10 million that will go toward American Red Cross shelters and another $10 million for organizations providing relief like the Salvation Army and Feeding America. Walmart's product contributions will be valued at Walmart's cost.

The campaign will run from Thursday through Wednesday.

A news release said Walmart hoped to increase comfort in the shelters by also providing items such as TVs, DVDs, games and stuffed animals for children and healthy snacks and fresh fruit.

Volunteers from the CT chapter of the American Red Cross continue to be deployed to Texas for disaster relief following Hurricane Harvey.
