Earlier this year, Philippe Starck has once again been confirmed as a partner in designing the second-gen Mi MIX smartphone.

World-renowned French designer Philippe Starck has always been confirmed as the artistic creator of a second-generation Xiaomi Mi MIX due out sometime this fall after also helping conceive the original "full display" smartphone a year ago. It's nearly guaranteed not to happen, but I really, really wish Xiaomi would consider bringing the Mi Mix 2 to the US. However, a release date post-November for the Mix 2 - or any smartphone for that matter - would, in fact, be the worst time to do so, as other much-anticipated handsets - Galaxy Note 8, Pixel 2 - will already take over the market by then.

The placement of the front camera is very odd in the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. The display is said to have a higher screen-to-body ratio of 93% and an aspect ratio of 18:9. Today, Philippe Starck's Facebook page has posted the concept video of the upcoming Mi MIX 2. The device features 5.5 inch OLED screen (720p), protected by a 2.5D curved display with no bezels on three side.

In the recent leaks, lock screen of the Mi Mix 2 looks like at the right side it comes with the Camera shortcut while in the middle it comes with 3D face recognition. For the connectivity, it has options like WIFI (Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac), Bluetooth (4.2), USB Type-C 1.0, Global Positioning System etc. So Xiaomi announced later that Starck will also design the Mi Mix 2.

The original Mi Mix was no slouch, powered as it was by a Snapdragon 821, with a 2040x1080 IPS display, a ceramic body, and both 4GB/128GB and 6GB/256GB SKUs.

It should be running on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat based MIUI 9 out of the box. As Mi MIX was sort of a premium flagship smartphone with high-end specifications and premium materials costing over $500 or INR 30,000, here is a cheap alternative the DOOGEE MIX.
