The leader of Australia's rightwing One Nation party has been rebuked by the Turnbull government for entering the Senate chamber wearing a black burqa.
After removing the burqa, Senator Hanson had asked Senator Brandis if he would work with her to ban the burqa.
Attorney-General George Brandis hit back at Hanson for the stunt, saying it offended the "religious sensibilities" of Australians.
Mr Brandis received a standing applause from opposition parties.
Writer and comedian Benjamin Law said he wished there was "more bipartisanship in Australian politics" but "if agreeing that Pauline Hanson is a flaming dickhead is what it takes so be it".
I am not going to ignore the stunt of arriving in this chamber.
"We have about 500,000 Australians in this country of the Islamic faith and the vast majority of them are law abiding, good Australians".
Parry said he had been advised by the clerk that Hanson's identity was known before she entered the chamber and he would "reflect on her mode of dress" as questions continued.
Moon: US to seek Seoul's approval on N.Korea action
Economic and monetary authorities in South Korea have agreed today to adopt measures to stabilize financial markets if necessary. Moon has repeatedly urged North Korea not to "cross the red line" but had not previously elaborated what that would constitute.
The Brandis rebuke prompted Labor, Greens and some crossbenchers to stand and applaud.
Coalition MPs remained seated during the standing ovation.
Greens Leader Richard Di Natale also labelled Ms Hanson's actions "disgraceful" and argument for a multicultural code of conduct for the parliament to prevent future stunts.
Hanson's call for the banning of the burqa prompted disorderly interjections from across the chamber.
"Senator Hanson, for the last four years, I have had responsibility pre-eminently among the ministers subject to the Prime Minister for national security policy".
"Terrorism is a true threat to our country". "I would caution you and counsel you".
Brandis went on to say as a minister responsible for national security he had the knowledge that the best way to ensure security was to work closely with Muslim communities.
