Nassau police investigate a triple homicide on Perry Street in Hempstead on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2017. The fourth woman who escaped has not been identified.

34-year-old Bobby Vanderhall is charged with three counts of second-degree murder and one count of attempted murder.

'He went to the garage, he obtained a large hammer. With this hammer, he broke through the basement door'.

He then beat his mother, 58-year-old Lynn Vanderhall, to death in the kitchen, according to police. "As they came to the staircase, Bobby was already coming up after them".

Vanderhall found the last victim, 29-year-old Janel Simpson, in an upstairs room. She was hospitalized to be treated for wounds from the attack.

I just think we are not open - what I said to you many times - to any offers, anyway. He had a scan two days ago and he's out for a while.

Nassau cops are searching for a "person of interest" in what they described as the targeted killings of three women in a Hempstead home.

Fitzpatrick said Vanderhall had a history of "emotional issues" and had on two occasions been taken from his mother's home to a medical center. "The most lovely memory of my daughter was her smile, her love, she was so protective of me", said Wendy Simpson, the mother of one of the victims.

The police described Bobby as more than six feet tall and at weighing least 230 pounds.

He had a record of arrests for drunken driving, drug possession and sexual abuse, according to reports. "Beautiful, outstanding people, that's what I want the world to know", said a family relative, Juanita Johnson. "These girls don't give problems, these girls just have fun", Simpson said. He is being held in Mineola and was scheduled for arraignment on Sunday.
