A state police helicopter crashed near Charlottesville, Va., on Saturday, killing two people hours after violent protests in the city, according to a report.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation. No injuries on the ground have been reported.

State and local police were responding to a deadly three-car crash at a white nationalist rally earlier this afternoon.

Neighbors said the helicopter hovered low over houses before going into nearby woods.

The crash occurred on Old Farm Road, which is about seven miles from Charlottesville, where earlier Saturday one person died and several were injured when a auto plowed through a crowd of counter-protesters at a white nationalist rally. Police have sealed off the area.
