Bioware veteran Corey Gaspur passes away


Gaspur joined Bioware Edmonton as designer back in 2007 and has since performed work on Mass Effect 2, Mass Effect 3, and Dragon Age Origins.

BioWare has confirmed the death of a friend and colleague.

Bioware has just announced via their official blog that Corey Gaspur, a Bioware Veteran and a Lead Designer on Bioware's new IP Anthem has passed away.

The company noted, "Corey was a talented designer and an even better person".

Gaspur had been a part of BioWare for nearly a decade.

He was also lead combat director on Mass Effect 3 and consulted on numerous other games from BioWare publisher EA, including Star Wars: Battlefront and Mirror's Edge: Catalyst.

Casey Hudson, head of Bioware, commented on Gaspur's passing on Twitter. "I will miss him greatly".

Rest In Peace, Our Thoughts and Condolences Go Out To Corey's Family. "We will miss you", BioWare's statement said. "It was an honor to know him", Dragon Age director Mike Laidlaw wrote. Leading up to his sudden passing, Gaspur was the lead designer on the in-development title Anthem, which wowed crowds with the gameplay revealed at E3 this year. As of right now, the title is slated for a 2018 release.
