US President Donald Trump took to Twitter to criticise The New York Times and the Washington Post for negative coverage of his administration.

"The Amazon Washington Post fabricated the facts on my ending massive, risky and wasteful payments to Syrian rebels fighting Assad...."

It had been a covert programme until Mr. Trump's tweet confirmed its existence.

The Washington Post reported last week that Trump chose to end the aid program almost a month ago after meeting with CIA Director Mike Pompeo and National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster - before the G20 Summit in Germany. U.S. Special Operations Command chief Gen. Raymond Thomas told the Aspen Security Forum Friday that the. Although ending the program was not part of the U.S. -Russia ceasefire in Syria, one U.S. official said nixing it was a "signal to Putin that the administration wants to improve ties to Russian Federation".

Sri Lanka revises Hambantota Port agreement with China, allays India's concerns
As per the new pact, China Merchants Port Holdings will have an 85 per cent stake in Hambantota International Port Group. Already, China has plans to acquire 15,000 acres (23 sq. miles) near the port for the development of an industrial zone.

Trump went after both the newspaper and the e-commerce giant in three posts he fired off in quick succession about 10:30 on Monday night.

The CIA program will likely be phased out "over a period of months" the officials told the Post, noting that the decision has the support of key USA ally Jordan, that has hosted training sites for the Syrian rebels.

Trump continued to decry The Washington Post as "Fake News" in a tweet saying the paper is "being used as a lobbyist weapon against Congress to keep Politicians from looking into Amazon no-tax monopoly?"

And while Bezos does own the Washington Post, the newspaper is technically managed by an entirely separate company than Amazon. The on-line retailer has been criticized in past for not paying sales tax, but it has done so on a state by state basis.
