When catastrophic climate change endangers Earth's very survival, world governments unite to create a global network of satellites armed with technologies designed to stave off natural disasters. "But now, something has gone wrong-the system built to protect the Earth is attacking it, and it's a race against the clock to uncover the real threat before a worldwide geostorm wipes out everything...and everyone along with it".
Butler stars as Jake, a scientist who, along with his brother, Max, played by Sturgess, is tasked with solving the satellite program's malfunction. It looks decidedly brainless, but there just might be a lot of big dumb fun on offer.
Warner Bros. has dropped a big new trailer for Geostorm, the long-in-the-works action-disaster flick starring Gerard Butler. No, that's a thing that happened in The Avengers. Joking aside Geostorm does look much better in this trailer than the last one, so there's that. Devlin's Electric Entertainment is producing the movie with Skydance Productions.
Apple Inc. (AAPL) Fully Committed To OLED iPhones For 2018
As Samsung remains one of the top OLED panel suppliers, its rival Apple is also planning to alleviate the competition. Still, it is unclear whether the LG will provide the OLED panels for the iPhone 8 or the 2018 boards.
The film also stars Ed Harris, Katheryn Winnick, Jim Sturgess, Adepero Oduye, Eugenio Derbez and Amr Waked.
I caught some of Independence Day on cable during the Fourth of July, and was struck by how Hollywood doesn't make many movies like that anymore. The film marks the feature directorial debut of Independence Day and Stargate producer Dean Devlin and takes place in a world where our weather has become so out of control that it's now controlled by satellites in outer space.
