Computers across Europe and India were hit by a major ransomware cyberattack this week, causing system failures at A.P. Moller-Maersk (Maersk), the world's largest shipping company.

Ravi Gaitonde, chief operating officer, APM Terminals, Mumbai, in a mail to JNPT chairman Anil Diggikar, said, "In India, APM Terminals operates two terminals-Gateway Terminals India Pvt Ltd (GTI ) at JNPT in Nhava Sheva and Gujarat Pipavav Port Ltd in Gujarat".

"At the present time we are unfortunately unable to serve new quotes or accept future bookings", a company statement read.

Clients were notified on Wednesday morning that vessel operations at the terminal would be hit and that the company could not say when normal services would resume, according to one shipping industry source.

Work at Gothenburg harbour is already affected by a long-running conflict between the dockers' union and APM Terminals, owned by Maersk.

The JNPT official further said the port has made available excess parking space for the container traffic within the port premises and Dronagiri at Cidco.

The said terminal was being operated by AP Moller- Maersk, the shipping giant, which is among the worst affected globally.

Scotiabank Downgrades Rice Midstream Partners LP (RMP) to Sector Perform
The institutional investor owned 1,205,367 shares of the pipeline company's stock after selling 59,168 shares during the period. The stock of EQT Midstream Partners LP (NYSE:EQM) has "Outperform" rating given on Friday, October 23 by RBC Capital Markets.

APM Terminals at the Port of NY and New Jersey will be closed for the rest of the day "due to the extent of the system impact", the Port said. The GTI has a capacity to handle 1.8 million standard container units.

Operations at JNPT were impacted as a fallout of the global ransomware attack, which crippled some central banks and many large corporations in Europe.

German postal and logistics company Deutsche Post said systems of its Express division in the Ukraine have in part been affected by a cyber attack.

Also on Tuesday, Russia's largest oil producer Rosneft said a large-scale cyber attack had hit its servers, but oil production was unaffected.

Production at the Cadbury factory on the island state of Tasmania ground to a halt late on Tuesday after computer systems went down, said Australian Manufacturing and Workers Union state secretary John Short.

"The Port Authority does not indicate whether the closure is the direct result of the cyber attack or simply a precautionary measure".

The ransomware virus includes code known as "Eternal Blue", which cyber security experts widely believe was stolen from the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) and was also used in last month's ransomware attack, named "WannaCry".
