"The story charged that the Senate Intelligence committee was interested in a "$10-billion Russian investment fund whose chief executive met with a member of President Donald Trump's transition team four days before Trump's inauguration", per the New York Post.
The video was released after three CNN journalists resigned Monday following the network's retraction of a story Friday about a supposed investigation into a pre-inaugural meeting between a Trump associate and the head of a Russian investment fund. CNN officially retracted the story June 23 and issued a formal apology to Anthony Scaramucci, the subject of the story.
"Wow, CNN had to retract big story on "Russia", with 3 employees forced to resign". In one, he wrote: "What about all the other phony stories they do?"
The story was posted on the network's website Thursday and was removed, with all links disabled, Friday night.
"Why is CNN constantly like 'Russia this, Russian Federation that?'" an unnamed Project Veritas reporter asks John Bonifield, CNN supervising producer, in a video that appears to have been filmed covertly.
Principal Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also referenced O'Keefe's video during Tuesday afternoon's press briefing in a tense exchange with members of the media.
Saudi king names son as heir instead of nephew
Saudi Arabia's stock market was up by more than 3.5 per cent in midday trading after the appointment. He has pledged allegiance to the new crown prince and his younger cousin, Salman.
However, the President was not content with only having a go at CNN and soon pulled in the New York Times and the Washington Post into his tweetstorm.
The producer goes on to relay a story about CNN CEO Jeff Zucker telling network reporters to rapidly shift focus back to the Russian Federation controversy when they shifted coverage to other issues.
"Because it's ratings", Bonifield said.
"I've been with CNN since 2001, and am sure about one thing: This is a news organization that prizes accuracy and fairness above all else". CNN corrected that earlier story, but it put more attention internally on Lichtblau, who had shared the byline with Borger and two others and who had also edited the piece, according to the CNN source. Bonifield later goes on to say that the president is justified in saying "Look, you are witch hunting me". "Ratings way down!" Trump tweeted, following a series of retweets for "Fox & Friends" on the rival Fox News network.
"Diversity of personal opinion is what makes CNN strong, we welcome it and embrace it", an email from a CNN spokesman to the Daily Beast reads. The photo in the tweet was accompanied by the teasing text "The person in the second CNN video: you've all seen him and you know his name!"
