Phil Jackson's forgettable tenure as the president of the New York Knicks will reportedly be coming to an end as soon as Wednesday morning.
Dolan is eyeing Toronto Raptors general manager Masai Ujiri as Jackson's potential replacement, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski. Dolan said in a statement Tuesday that the team would be "going in a different direction". Most recently, Dolan was angered by Jackson's decision to publicly dangle young star Kristaps Porzingis in trade talks. "I wish them and the Knicks organization all the best - today and always".
Knicks general manager Steve Mills is expected to stay in his current role and lead the team during free agency, but his future is unclear.
On Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical cited league sources who said NY owner James Dolan was "weighing" Jackson's future with the team. With Jackson at the helm, free agents have shied away from the Knicks despite being a marquee National Basketball Association team with a huge market.
I'm listening to Mike and Mike and Stu Gotz is begging for them to fire coach Hornacek and hire Jeff Van Gundy as coach or Mark Jackson. Now that Jackson is gone, sources say, Anthony will likely not be bought out or traded and will instead stay in NY, as is his preference.
Cabinet gives in-principal nod to divest Air India
The low cost arm of state-owned Air India however saw its net profit fall from Rs361.68 crore in financial year ended March 2016. Air India has been reporting losses for at least four years, says the country's top auditor.
"I wish Phil the best from this point on".
Jackson's experience on the coaching front was a stark contrast to his résumé as an executive. In his three years with the Knicks, the team only won 80 games with Johnson as president. Since the extension, the Knicks have not won more than 32 games and Anthony has repeatedly found himself on the trading block.
In April, Begley and Shelburne of ESPN.com reported "the Knicks and Jackson quietly picked up their option on the remaining two years of his contract this spring". In February, Charley Rosen, a close ally of Jackson, revealed that Anthony would waive his no-trade clause only for a move to either the Los Angeles Clippers or Cleveland Cavaliers. And right on cue, shortly after, the rumor linking Ujiri to NY have resurfaced.
The beginning of Jackson's term was met with hope because of his 11 championships as National Basketball Association head coach, but quickly soured due to his devotion to the triangle offense, questionable free-agent signings and the public treatment of all-star forward Carmelo Anthony.
"I mean, he's known as the Zen Master, like a master talker, and then he's not talking to anybody", McEnroe said of Jackson. Quoting league sources, Wojnarowski writes that Dolan is targeting the Raptors' president, to take up a similar position in NY.
"I think I can definitely fit with this system", Ntilikina said on draft night.
