President Donald Trump paid a visit to injured Steve Scalise in the Washington hospital this week, where the Congressman remains in critical condition, RadarOnline.com has learned.

Meanwhile, a statement released by MedStar Washington Hospital Center states: "Scalise sustained a single rifle shot to the left hip. The bullet travelled across his pelvis, fracturing bones, injuring internal organs, and causing severe bleeding", MedStar Washington Hospital Center said in a statement.

Trump, who visited Scalise at the hospital on Wednesday, said the congressman was "in some trouble but he's going to be okay, we hope".

On Wednesday, he underwent immediate surgery after the incident and then an additional procedure to stop bleeding. He has received multiple units of blood transfusion and will require additional operations. Mika is still in critical condition, while Barth has already been released. The hospital also said it will continue to provide periodical updates.

Members of the U.S. Congress took the field for their traditional Republicans vs. Democrats baseball game on Thursday, with many wearing hats to honor Representative Steve Scalise, who was critically wounded by a gunman as his Republican team practiced a day before.

"America is praying for you and America is praying for all of the victims of this awful shooting", he said. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., has been identified as the man who shot the House Whip, his aide and at least 2 others. Sen. He told his wife that he was headed to Washington, D.C., "to work on taxes".

Sen. Paul, who along with others credited Rep. Scalise's security detail as the reason mass casualties were avoided, described the scene as "sort of a killing field".

After arriving at Hunterspoint Avenue station, rider Marisa Baglio, 38, of Bayshore said, "It's frustrating". The MTA initially said it was a track issue, then specified it was a problem with the third rail.

"There was a real fear" that the gunman would come into the dugout, where members of Congress and others would have been "sitting ducks", he said.

Griner, 32, is also a Capitol Police special agent. "He is grateful for the fearless actions of U.S. Capitol Police, first responders, and colleagues", his office revealed in a previous statement.

The gunman's wife told ABC NEWS that Hodgkinson has been residing in Alexandria for the past two months, and that he was supposed to return to IL in a few days.

He praised the heroism of Capitol Police officers - the members of Scalise's security detail - who were wounded responding to what he called "a very, very brutal assault".

Currently, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is still looking into Hodgkinson if he had any associates, what his social media impressions are, and what potential motivations he had to commit the shooting. "America is praying for you", he said of Rep. Scalise, "and America is praying for all of the victims of this awful shooting".

Colleagues said Mr Scalise had been fielding at second base at a local park in Alexandria, just across the Potomac River from the nation's capital, as the Republicans practised for their annual game with Democrats.

When the president intoned three words he said have brought Americans together for generations - "Let's play ball" - cheers rang out.
