Taylor Swift Congratulates Russell Westbrook on MVP Award in Twitter Video

Golden State's Draymond Green won the Defensive Player of the Year, ending Leonard's two-year run.

Westbrook defeated fellow finalists James Harden of Houston and Kawhi Leonard of San Antonio to claim the season MVP award for the first time in ceremonies at NY.

On stage at the inaugural NBA Awards show, Westbrook delivered an emotional speech, bringing his team mates on stage and thanked everyone from them to his family.

On Monday night, Russell Westbrook took home the regular-season MVP award.

The event was hosted by Drake and with a performance by Nicki Minaj and 2 Chainz.

But there were uplifting moments, as well. Westbrook's logo appears on the tongue of one of the shoes while Jordan Brand's signature Jumpman logo is featured on the side panels of each sneaker.

Kendrick Perkins, a Thunder teammate of Westbrook and Durant from 2011 to '15, said in May that he brokered a phone call between the pair that took place in April after Westbrook eclipsed Oscar Robertson's triple-double record.

Aside from the MVP award, Russell Westbrook also got the Best Style Fan Award and the Game Winner of the Year Fan Award.

D'Antoni, who also won the award while coaching Phoenix, followed Rockets guard Eric Gordon's win for Sixth Man of the Year.

The Twitter video was a rare social media appearance by Swift, who has been enjoying some time off this year (17) and laying low with her new boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn.

Greek star Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks won the Most Improved Player award, beating out Gobert and Serbian forward Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets.

Warriors General Manager Bob Myers was named the league's executive of the year. So happy for Malcolm Brogdon, what a year and accomplishment.
