Judge clouts 22nd homer, propels Yankees past Angels 5-3

Yankees right fielder, Aaron Judge has burst upon the scene of Major League Baseball in a big way.

Judge, who grew up in Linden, Calif. - almost 400 miles north of Anaheim - blasted a tie-breaking, two-run homer to right field that traveled 438 feet with one out in the eighth inning, enabling the Yankees to beat the Angels 5-3 and increase their winning streak to six on Monday night at Angel Stadium.

"It just shows what kind of fun we're having, what type of group we have here", Judge said. "We're getting deep into counts, and when you leave something over the middle, we're depositing it and doing some damage".

The move backfired as Chase Headley followed with an RBI single to put NY up 3-1. The first-place Yankees have outscored Boston and Baltimore, their closest competitors in the AL East, by 41-6 during their winning streak. He struck out eight and walked two. Tillman's season began when he pitched five scoreless innings and allowed three hits to the Chicago White Sox on May 7.

As Judge came to bat in the eighth, Yankees manager Joe Girardi thought "they might pitch around" the major league's home run leader.

"I've got to know with (Young) at second base, I probably have no shot at throwing him out at home", Judge said.

Tanaka departed with eight strikeouts and only two walks, but was charged with three runs (one earned). It was 12 pitches into the game, and the Yankees already led 5-0. Chris Carter singles to left center field. After the right-hander was replaced by lefty Chasen Shreve, Orioles left fielder Seth Smith had an RBI double and second baseman Jonathan Schoop had one, too, and the Orioles had three runs, the only ones they'd score.

NY made it 12-0 before an out was recorded in the fourth.
